Microsoft has another batch of free games ready for you to enjoy, but I’m not going sugar coat it – this selection of freebies, meant to keep you entertained as we head into the icy depths of winter, is mediocre at best.

As announced recently via Major Nelson’s blog, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia is up first, and will be available all month on Xbox One. There’s nothing wrong with the AC Chronicles games, but it’s hardly the kind of thing that’s going to change your life. And that’s the headliner for the month.

From 16 June until mid-way through July, Xbox One gamers can grab a trove of SMITE stuff, with the SMITE: Gold Bundle. It’s apparently worth a ridiculous $99 (R1256), but is probably just a big bowl of virtual in-game currency and naughty undies for your game character. Don’t quote me on that.

Xbox 360 gamers are being catered for as well, with the better-than-you-might-imagine Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for the first half of June, and LEGO Indiana Jones 2 for the second half. So, nothing terrible, as such, but also nothing terribly exciting, either. Both Xbox 360 games will be playable on Xbox One too, as always.
