Hours after an image of some branded merch was leaked online, Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser, promising more at E3.
Last night, French gaming website JeuxVideo-Live published a photo of a novelty keyring (a key piece of evidence, even, omg) featuring a distinctive Corinthian helmet and the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey logo. The “Odyssey” thing, I’m assuming, is a not exactly subtle reference to the works of Greek poet Homer, whose chronicles of local hero and king of Ithaca Odysseus and his cursed voyage home from Troy were compiled as – stop me if you know this one – The Odyssey.

According to sources over on Kotaku, the game will be “even more of a drastic departure for the series than Origins”, with dialogue options and the choice of a male or female protagonist, and launch sometime before the end of this year.
