The fourth and final season of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead has a release date, and a typically sombre E3 teaser trailer to set the mood

Are you ready to be feel scared, depressed, and hopeless all over again? You’d best stock up on happy pills and cry tissues, because Telltale Games is ready to stick a fork in the long running The Walking Dead series, and we don’t have long to wait before the final chapter of this wonderfully miserable saga begins.

Leading up to the madness of E3, Telltale Games has revealed that The Walking Dead: the Final Season kicks off with the first episode on 14 August, the beginning of the end of protagonist Clementine’s arduous journey through a zombie-infested world of endless dread.

“After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be Clementine’s chance for a home,” reads the Telltale preamble. “But protecting it will mean sacrifice. Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left. In this gripping, emotional final season, you will define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine’s story ends.”

If you’ve somehow managed to miss the story so far, here’s a little treat: pre-order the final chapter on Xbox One or PS4 and you’ll get the first three seasons free as part of the Walking Dead Collection. Bloody hell. That’s quite special, I reckon.

Expect to hear more about The Walking Dead: The Final Season at E3 next week.
