This is one of my favourite things to come out of E3 so far – an atmospheric mystery that is driven by a strong narrative.
The set up is fairly run-of-the-mill: a down-on-his-luck protagonist called Sam returns to his small hometown, still recovering from a bad break-up, returns home for his best friend’s funeral. Things get a helluva lot worse from there though.
The trailer shows Sam waking up after a presumably rough night, with no recollection of what happened. Unfortunately for Sam, his clothes are covered in blood. This sets the stage for the game’s central mystery, in which “your memories, choices, and relationships will determine Sam’s complicated fate”.
Twin Mirror is described as “a dark and emotional adventure where the line between truth and deception is blurred,” and “truth, duality, and polarity will all become factors, as players dictate their future through personal choices”. Check out the reveal trailer below.
