Overwatch’s Pink Mercy skin raises millions to save boobs

In May, Blizzard Entertainment decided to give its legions of Overwatch players an opportunity to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation by purchasing a new skin for healer character Mercy. The Pink Mercy charity skin, so named because it was (obviously) pink, was available to players for $15, and the total amount raised was announced by Blizzard this week.

The generosity of Overwatch players managed to bring in a donation amount of $12.7 million, approximately R170 million, which is no small sum for a two week campaign. That donation alone was the single largest donation the Foundation has ever received from a corporate partner, not factoring in the money raised through various Overwatch charity streams, and people who purchased the Pink Mercy t-shirts.

The Pink Mercy skin was designed by VICKISIGH, and you can check out more of her awesome artwork on her Twitter (@vickisigh).
