Bummed about missing rAge (again)? Introducing Playtopia, a debut venture featuring local and international indie games, interactive thingies, live music and DJs, panel discussions, workshops, and – because it’s totally Cape Town like that – food trucks and beer. Check the kiffness, my bru.
Opening 30 November to 2 December at the Castle, Playtopia invites Jou Ma Se City to “celebrate the country’s diverse game development community, and inspire the next generation of creators, gamers and enthusiasts”, according to its website. Besides over 35 indie games, the show list also includes A Maze./Berlin’s Digital Gardens exhibition, a Super Friendship Arcade room with custom controllers, VR displays, and speakers Anita Sarkeesian, Lauren Beukes, Nyamakop guys Cukia Kimani and Ben Myres, plus much more.
Local indie developers are also invited to submit their games for consideration, and it’s free so get busy.
