If you’re in the market for free games – and let’s be honest, who isn’t? – then you’ll be interested to hear what Sony has lined up for PlayStation Plus subscribers for October. So, here you go…
Friday the 13th: The Game is a game based on Friday the 13th: The Movie. It’s got high school kids running around in a forest, trying not to have their entrails removed. You can play as one of the camp goers, or you can play as Jason, the hockey masked murder machine, and it’s the perfect game to play in the build-up to Halloween at the end of October, if you’re into that kind of thing. I prefer my entrails tucked neatly within my wobbly carcass, so I’ll give it a skip, but from what I hear Friday the 13th: The Game is a far better game than it was at launch, thanks to a number of impactful patches, fixes, and balance repairs.
Your second freebie for October is Laser League. People refer to it as Tron meets Rocket League. To me it looks like playing laser tag in the middle of a savage PCP binge weekend, but with a touch of class. Stylish chaos, like a fox wearing an Armani suit while chasing glow-in-the-dark chickens. I’ve seen the trailers, I’ve read the reviews, and I can tell without a doubt that I would be absolutely terrible at this game, but it still looks like a lot of fast paced 2-vs-2 or 3-vs-3 fun.
There’s also a bonus PlayLink title, Knowledge is Power, set to give your
cerebul cerbelum brain a bit of a workout. The October serving is rounded off with Master Reboot (PS3), The Bridge (PS3, PS4, PS Vita), Rocketbirds 2: Evolution (PS Vita, PS4), and 2064: Read Only Memories (PS Vita, PS4).
