Many people have heard of George Orwell, most famous for his novels Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm, or you might also know him for the term “Orwellian” – an ideology, situation, or political or social policy described by Orwell in some of his novels as being opposed to the welfare of a free society. This includes things like mass government surveillance, propaganda, doublespeak, and misinformation or “alternative” facts (something that became a crucial part of Donald Trump’s campaign for the office of US President). Orwell: Keeping An Eye On You is point-and-click indie title that explores a society trapped in an authoritarian dystopia, and you get to play the part of a citizen in this society hell-bent on making everyone spy on everyone else on behalf of the government. It’s free for today, and you can play this as a build-up to Orwell: Ignorance Is Strength, a sequel which is on sale this weekend.
