Disc copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 require a mandatory 50GB day one update

So, you decided to buy the game on disc to save data and time downloading the thing like those other techno suckers? LOL U GOT PWNED.
According to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 setup FAQ, disc copies of the game on Xbox One and PS4 (and presumably also PC, although this isn’t confirmed for the moment) are subject to the installation of a 50GB update before you can even play.
“This update must be installed completely in order to access Multiplayer, Zombies, and Specialist Headquarters,” Activision explains. “Blackout is fully playable once installation is about 30% complete (approximately 16-20 GB).”
Digital editions of the game come in at about 55GB total, so that’s almost the entire game that you have to download, and what even is the point of buying games on disc anymore. Pre-loading for digital editions is available from tomorrow morning, 06:00 local time, so maybe consider a swap if you’re dialling up on 2 Mbps DSL.
