The LEGO Movie 2 is out in the early part of February next year, and fans of the film and Traveller’s Tales endless list of LEGO games will be happy to know that Emmet and his friends’ quirky adventures will be hitting shelves just a few weeks later.

The LEGO Movie 2 hits cinemas on 8 February 2019, perfectly timed to give a moment of comic relief to students who have just realised that they’ve chosen the wrong university course to study, and also just about a week after the eternal financial misery of January has finally ground to a bloody close. The game of the film, which has been called The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame, even though I haven’t typed video game as one word in around thirteen thousand years, will arrive on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 26 February – just long enough after January that we’re all, like, “Man, things aren’t as bad as they seem, I can afford this!”.

“The alien monster invaders have left Bricksburg in ruins,” says the hype ramblings on the game’s official page. “It is now up to Emmet and a host of heroic characters to go beyond their world and save their friends from the strange inhabitants of the Systar System. Journey into outer space, discover new worlds, and test your Master Building skills.”

I loved the first film, but the associated game was one of the lower ranked among the throng of LEGO titles, but the sequel promises So Much More of Everything is Awesome, as one might expect, so we’ll see how things turn out when it posts up on 26 February on Microsoft and Sony’s machines, and exactly a month later on Nintendo Switch.
