You can sign up now for Anthem’s alpha

Ahead of the game’s expected February 2019 launch, BioWare is hosting a closed alpha test for its post-apocalyptic sci-fantasy not-Destiny multiplayer blast-’em-up this weekend on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Access is apparently super limited and subject to a “STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL” non-disclosure agreement, according to the FAQ, but if you can keep a secret, register with EA’s Community Playtest programme (an EA account is required for this) and complete the form. The schedule includes two sessions each on Saturday 8 December and Sunday 9 December on your designated platform to choose from, although the studio hasn’t confirmed what exactly the alpha test comprises.

“If you’re in, you’ll see a confirmation on the Community Playtesting site,” the team explains, “and you’ll get an email from us letting you know how to download the Anthem Closed Alpha game client.”

You’ll obviously also need a valid Gold or PS Plus subscription to play on Xbox or PS4, because even if you’re one of those antisocial solo types, Anthem is an online game.
