Have a look at the new Battlefield V trailer showing off the upcoming Lightning Strikes update

EA DICE’s decision to send Battlefield V out onto the battlefield with only a fraction of its kit on might strike some as strange, but you can’t fault the team for making good on their promise to keep delivering the goods, for free, post launch. Today we’re treated to a murder-heavy trailer for the upcoming Lightning Strikes update, giving us a brief look at the modes, weapons, and more that will be fleshing out the base game.

Well, wasn’t that explosive?

For the first update of the year we’re getting a variant of Conquest mode, called Squad Conquest, which plops two teams of 16 on three maps, Arras, Hamada, and Rotterdam. That’s great, thanks, and so is the addition of a small cache of new weapons – including the Zk-383 SMG, M1922 MMG, and Modele 1944 semi-automatic rifle – but for many the highlight of Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes has to be the return of the always tense Rush mode.

There are a good few tweaks and fixes packed in along with all that, which you can peruse at your leisure right over here.

Battlefield V Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes will be with us on 17 January. We’ll have to wait until March before Battlefield V gets its battle royale effort, the eagerly anticipated Firestorm mode.
