Anthem’s open demo will be an improvement on the VIP one so here’s hoping we get to see more than a fancy pants loading screen this time

I experienced the Anthem VIP demo over the weekend. By “experienced”, I mean I listened to a lot of atmospheric title screen music, watched a load bar almost get to the end, but not quite, a few times, and then went back to playing Red Dead. But I heard good things.

Many of us fell victim to a multitude of bugs over the duration of the VIP demo, but Chad Robertson, Head of Live Service for BioWare, wants you to know that they’ve fixed some of the big ones… mostly.

Issues that will be addressed before Friday’s open demo:

  • Entitlement bugs
  • Rubber-banding due to server performance
  • Infinite loads
  • Platform bugs to validate Javelin unlocks
  • Client and platform login bugs

Chad says that the infinite load issue has been “improved”, not completely fixed, so I guess we’ll see what happens on Friday.

Issues that they’ve totally already fixed in the actual game so shut up already:

  • Weapons with 0% infusions
  • Weapons with bonus that applies to different Javelins
  • Plot integrity / party gather issues
  • Changes to Javelin unlock behavior
  • Fixes for losing XP at end of some expeditions
  • Performance Improvements
  • Additional stability fixes
  • A Social Hub: The Launch Bay

The demo version of the game is different to the actual, forealsies launch version so, apparently, they had already fixed a whole mess of things.

The Anthem open demo is happening this Friday 1 February from 19:00 SAST and the full game releases 22 February 2019.
