For those of you waiting for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet on the Nintendo Switch, I regret to inform you, but not really, that it is not being released outside of Japan.
The DOAX series is a spinoff within the Dead or Alive fighter franchise where, instead of fighting each other, you repeatedly punch gender equality in the face. Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is the Switch version of what is technically a sports game. I mean, you do get to do some actual sportsing like volleyball, rock climbing, and Butt Battle (did you miss that one in the Olympics?), but it’s mostly known for the laughable amount of effort it puts into the boob physics. It’s just really thinly-veiled porn, guys, let’s stop pretending.
It’s not surprising that the Switch version isn’t coming to West, it didn’t make it here for the PS4 either, when it was originally released back in 2016. President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, cited cultural differences saying that “The West has it’s own thinking about how to depict women in games media which is different from Japan”. Well, yes, Japan’s depiction of women is historically dodgy AF. Not that the West is much better.
However, if you do want to get your pervy little paws on a copy, the game includes English language support so you can import it yourself. Hooray?
