Fortnite introduces new account merge royale mode

Players stuck between multiple console accounts can now merge those accounts and get their V-Bucks and other collectible thingies into one account, Epic has confirmed. Until now, this has been a problem due to Sony’s segregationist, anti-cuddle party policy on PS4 – although the company relented in September 2018 and announced cross-platform play with Xbox One in Fortnite, players who authenticated their accounts on PS4 were unable to use the same account on Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, and players who authenticated their accounts on Xbox One or Nintendo Switch were unable to use the same account on PS4. As a result, those players have been using two accounts with separate in-game inventories, and that’s not exactly convenient.

The process of merging accounts is kind of complicated, and subject to some limitations – most significantly, one account must have played on Xbox One or Switch and the other account on PS4 before 28 September 2018 for those accounts to merge. You’ll choose which account you want to keep, transfer your thingies over from the other account, and once merged, you’ll have to wait two weeks for the thingies from the now disabled account to be available.
