In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the publication of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction, the Gigantic Brewing company and Dark Horse Comics are joining forces for the most noble of causes: beer.
This limited edition run of beer, 666 cases each (because obviously), will encompass six variants inspired by fan-favourite characters and feature label artwork by, series creator, Mike Mignola. The first to be released is Hellboy, a maple syrup pancake beer, which I think suits Big Red just fine. The beers will be released in order from March, ahead of Hellboy Day on 23 March 2019. Which I now know is a thing I wish to celebrate. Here’s the full list:
Hellboy – Maple Syrup Pancake Beer (6.66% abv)
Liz Sherman – Mole Chili Stout (6.66% abv)
Johann Kraus – Citrus Wit Beer (6.66% abv)
Abe Sapien – Indigo Blue Fruit Ale (6.66% abv)
Blood Queen – Cranberry Yuzu Sour (6.66% abv)
Trevor Bruttenholm – British Barleywine (9.99% abv)
I don’t even drink beer and I would happily chug a Hellboy. You heard me. “Succumb to the pancakes!” The limited run of beer will be on sale at select locations around the US, so I guess we’ll have to rely on the kindness of expats if we are to get our paws on some. Or a courier, I suppose.
Here’s a look at some of the labels:
Alternatively, you can always slake your metaphorical thirst for Hellboy when the new film comes out on 12 April 2019.
