Acer Thronos gaming rig review

Acer Thronos R250,000 gaming rig review

As if there isn’t enough gaming hardware for us to drool over, Acer goes and releases one of the most impressive gaming rigs I’ve seen to date. Not only does the Thronos feature a really impressive gaming PC at its core, but its key feature is an automated gaming chair with mounted screens that wrap around you as you game… its a experience unlike anything I’ve had before.

Featuring three 27-inch monitors, a Predator Orion 9000 gaming machine with an 8th gen Intel Core i7 processor, and two Nvidia GeForce 1080Ti graphics cards this is one beefy machine. Of course, there’s 64GB of RAM and for a few thousand more – about R15,000 more to be exact – you can upgrade the PC to the latest Core i9 processor. But let’s face it, at the rig’s overall price, PC upgrades are minor costs in comparison.

What I didn’t mention in the video is that the Thronos also features a subwoofer in the seat that vibrates along with your game action. There are no external speakers however but it does bundle with the Acer Predator Galea 300 headset to deliver audio.

So until the day I inherit millions from a long lost family member, the Acer Thronos will remain my elusive magical unicorn.
