Comic-Con Africa is coming to Cape Town in 2020

Which is good news, buuuuut also kind of bad news because its scheduled 1-3 May 2020 dates probably has the expo up uncomfortably close to FanCon, the Mother City’s other comics and geek-pop culture expo. Although FanCon hasn’t confirmed its dates for next year, 2019’s event is the weekend 27-28 April, more or less about the same time as 2018 and 2017

Comic-Con Cape Town will be hosted at the Cape Town Stadium, according to the expo’s Twitter account, in collaboration with the Cape Town International Animation Festival.

“With the unprecedented success of the 2018 Comic Con Africa it is the natural next step to bring this format to the city of Cape Town,” expo coordinator Carol Weaving says in the press stuff. “While the style of this Comic Con will be slightly different to Comic Con Africa, we still expect the same level of entertainment focusing on our key pillars which include film, series, animation, cosplay, comic books and gaming. We are thrilled to be announcing the dates when we will be bringing the Comic Con magic to another South African city.”

No other event info is available for the moment.
