You don’t have to be xX_itz_h1tm4n_killa_nosc0pe_69_420_Xx (2) on PlayStation anymore

Unless you want to, obviously, but now that you can actually change your PlayStation ID, you can’t make excuses about being 12. Unless you’re 12. But bro, not even if you’re 12.

Starting today, PS4 users can replace those embarrassing PlayStation IDs to something more elegant, sophisticated, and original like, I dunno, uR_M0Mz_g0t_sW4g. Maybe not that.

“All PS4 games originally published on or after April 1, 2018 have been developed to support the online ID change feature,” PlayStation social media guy Sid Shuman explains. “However, since they have not all been specifically tested with the feature, we cannot guarantee that they will support it.”

The first change is free, with subsequent changes charged at $10 (or $5 for PS Plus subscribers), but reverting back to a previous ID is also free when you realise that n1njaGHOST_x_ASSASSINsn1pez is actually super lame because nobody should have to pay for that kind of mistake.

You can change your PlayStation ID on your console or on the internet like so:

PlayStation 4

  • Step 1: From your PS4 go to [Settings].
  • Step 2: Select [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Profile] > [Online ID].
  • Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
  • Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.

  • Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.
