Spawn movie reboot will be like Jaws

Spawn reboot will be like superhero Jaws if everyone could just agree on the script

Todd McFarlane has been working on his “dark, ugly two hours worth of movie” for some time now, but it doesn’t seem like he’s getting anywhere. Mostly because nobody can agree on the script.

According to an interview with, not everyone is on board with McFarlane’s vision for a dark and twisty, supernatural horror take on the Spawn story.

You just go and trying to appease a handful of people while not giving in to what it is that I’m trying to do myself. Because if I have to change it too much, I’ll just walk away from it all.

The cast for this new take on Spawn apparently includes Jaimie Foxx and Jeremy Renner, as Spawn and Detective Twitch respectively. Although I’m not sure why you’d waste Jaimie Foxx on a role in which he won’t speak and his face will be largely covered, but apparently he wants to do it. Did I mention Spawn won’t be talking?

McFarlane has explained that he wants this reboot to be like Jaws, with Twitch as Sheriff Brody and Spawn as the murderous monster shark. So the focus will be on Twitch, with Spawn as the beast, lurking in the shadows. Done well, that could actually be very interesting to watch.

Hold thumbs that everyone involved can get their act together (ahur hur…).
