The Pokemon Company is developing an app to track sleep

Nintendo wants to know when you are sleeping and it’s not weird, okay?

The Pokémon Company has announced that it is developing an app that tracks your sleep habits in order to make your sleepy times more entertaining. Sounds like someone never had to flee a zombie horde through the corridors of their old high school, because they’re late for their geography exam, and OMG I DON’T EVEN HAVE A PEN!

Pokémon Sleep will be an app that seeks to “turn sleep into entertainment”, according to Pokémon Company CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara, speaking at a press conference yesterday. The idea being that you’re probably awful tired from walking around catching Pokémon all day with Pokémon Go, so you’d better be getting some quality rest or how else will you catch them all?

This announcement was paired with the reveal of the new Pokémon Go Plus + device, which does everything a Pokémon Go Plus does, but with an added (++) accelerometer for tracking your sleep.

They’ll know when you are sleeping, they’ll know when you’re awake, it’s only a matter of time before Nintendo knows if you’ve been bad or good, so join the rebellion, for goodness sake.

Pokémon Sleep should launch some time in 2020.
