Magic The Gathering Netflix TV show

Netflix is tapping that Magic: The Gathering a…nime TV show

The streaming megacorp has signed up The Avengers co-directors Anthony and Joseph Russo to produce the series, based on the Planeswalker narrative, with Henry Gilroy (Star Wars Rebels) and Jose Molina (The Tick) on scriptwriting duty.

Not much more info about it for the moment, but according to Deadline, we can expect ” a compelling story leveraging Magic: The Gathering’s incredible body of work” that combos “the genres of suspenseful thriller, horror, and drama with deeply developed characters the likes of which are not often seen in animation” and probably doesn’t include rage-quit table-flipping, but totally should.

Fun fact! I was first introduced to Magic: The Gathering in high school, when we got back from the holidays and my friend Robbie told us about this new card game he’d made up. It was very impressive. It also wasn’t actually his made-up card game but we didn’t find that out for, like, a year. It was 1993, okay, and we didn’t even have the internet to look it up, but Robbie is still kind of a weird guy. But that’s Robbie. We love him.
