A teaser trailer from Studio MDHR has revealed that Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course’s release will be pushed back to 2020. The last time we got a tiny taste of it was back in 2018 when the studio announced that it would release the new content in 2019 – by the way, the title turned into an acronym spells out DLC, and that’s super mindblowing (no really, it is).
The reason for the delay appears to be that Studio MDHR would rather have a rested, healthy team delivering an excellent DLC package, as opposed to providing a terrible product at the expense of their wellbeing. “We want to be absolutely certain that this next adventure feels at home in the world of Cuphead and is full of moments that surprise and delight players. Furthermore, the development of the original game taught us a great deal about the importance of making things in a way that’s healthy and sustainable for our team.”, said co-director Chad Moldenhauer in his Xbox Wire blog post.
Sadly, we’re going to have to wait a bit before we can dig in and enjoy The Delicious Last Course. However, in the wise words of Chad Moldenhauer, the DLC is being “cooked to perfection”, so it’s well worth the wait.
