Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus

Fetch me the bucket! Invader Zim movie hits Netflix in August

We’re getting one last foray, for now at least, into the incredibly inept, but tenacious, adventures of Zim as he attempts to take over the Earth, with Netflix’s Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. My inner youth is squeeing.

Invader Zim follows the adventures of an evil alien, and his malfunctioning GIR bot, tasked with the busywork of taking over our planet. He sets about this task with unwarranted confidence, infiltrating a school where he meets his nemesis, Dib. The critically acclaimed Nickelodeon series ran over two seasons, but was cancelled with a number of episodes unfinished, because it didn’t score well with the core demographic of kids aged 2 – 11. It still had an exceptional fanbase among the non-children, however, and post-cancellation DVD sales (remember those?) earned it cult status.

In Enter the Florpus, Zim is back and ready to enact Phase 2 of his evil plan for world domination. So, obviously, Dib is going to have to figure out how to stop him, once and for all.

If you enjoy humour that ranges from dark satire to the absurd, and have been looking for some colourful quotes to add to your everyday conversations, I encourage you to seek out Invader Zim.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus will be out on Netflix from 16 August.
