Sony Pictures Entertainment has dropped the trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap, the sequel to the original 2009 movie. After a decade of waiting, fans of the cult classic Zombieland are finally getting the sequel they deserve – sadly, Bill Murray isn’t coming back… or is he?
The trailer sees the return of protagonists Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin). As they fight their way through zombie-infested ‘murica against other survivors, the group must also learn to deal with the “growing pains” of being a “snarky, makeshift family”. Along the way, Little Rock decides to run off with some boy from Berkeley played by Avan Jogia, because teenage angst demands it. Thus, the rest of the gang is forced to go in pursuit while facing many misadventures of their own. Additions to the cast include Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch.
Director Ruben Fleischer, as well as the writers for the original film, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have all returned to work on this film, so fans of the franchise can rest assured that the movie will have the same level of whacky shenanigans as the original, if not more. Zombieland: Double Tap comes out on 18 October this year, so it’s time to nut up or shut up.
