Event Horizon is folding space-time into a TV show

Amazon has confirmed production of a series based on Paul Anderson’s 1997 cult-classic sci-fi horror movie in collaboration with Paramount Television, with Godzilla Vs Kong director Adam Wingard attached to the project. And I don’t want to make reckless assumptions about it, but you’ll probably need eyes to see it.

There’s not much more info available about it for the moment, according to Variety, but the original film was about a rescue team investigating the unexpected reappearance of a spaceship that vanished seven years previously. Things get… complicated. And super gross.

Despite its commercial failure at launch, Event Horizon has since established itself, much like Alien and The Thing, as one of those paradigmatic genre works, imitated – but seldom exceeded – by countless others. Dead Space, for example, is more or less Event Horizon: The Game.
