The Wheel of Time TV series adaptation has its main cast and, besides Rosamund Pike, you’ve probably mostly never heard of them. Had you heard of Kit Harington or Emilia Clarke before Game of Thrones? No? There you go.
So, we’ve got Rosamund Pike (A Private War) as Moiraine Damodred, Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock) as Egwene Al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford (Obey) as Perrin Aybara, Barney Harris (Billionaire Boys Club) as Mat Cauthon, Zoë Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel) as Nynaeve, and Josha Stradowski (Just Friends) as Rand Al’Thor.
Here’s some faces for you to judge:
The TV series will focus on Moiraine’s journey across the world, with a group of young people (shown here), one of which she believes to be the Dragon Reborn who is prophesied to be the destroyer of humanity. The Wheel of Time takes places in a world where women are the primary wielders of magical power and Moiraine is a member of a powerful, all-female organisation called the Aes Sedai.
Rafe Judkins, who previously worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is the executive producer and showrunner, while Uta Briesewitz (Stranger Things, Jessica Jones, Altered Carbon) will direct the first two episodes.
How do you feel about the casting? Are you more or less excited to see this epic fantasy series brought to life?
