Masters of the Universe: Revelation

Kevin Smith developing anime Masters of the Universe sequel series for Netflix

Given the popularity of Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, it seemed inevitable that He-Man would be making a comeback and, now, we know that comeback’s called The Masters of the Universe: Revelation and it’s being developed by Kevin Smith.

Where the new She-Ra is a reboot of the 80s classic, Revelation will be a continuation of the original Masters of the Universe series. You all remember what happened, right? It was only 30 years ago, give or take. Well, here’s the official synopsis for Revelation, which will feature He-Man, Orko, Cringer/Battle Cat, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and Beast Man, to name a few:

…after a ferocious final battle forever fractures Eternia, it’s up to Teela to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to prevent the end of the Universe! Her journey will uncover the secrets of Grayskull at last. This is the epic He-Man and the Master of the Universe saga fans have waited 35 years to see!

The series will be animated by Powerhouse Animation, the studio behind Netflix’s Castlevania, so it will almost certainly have a different style and tone to She-Ra.

Kevin Smith is executive producer and showrunner, and the writers include Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen), Diya Mishra (Magic: The Gathering), and Marc Bernardin (Alphas).

No release date has been set.
