Ready your flip phones and prepare to jack in; there’s another chapter coming to the Matrix saga and it’s even got Keanu in it.
There have been rumblings about a fourth Matrix movie for a while, but now there’s apparently confirmation that Lana Wachowski intends to write, direct, and produce it, with filming set to start next year. There’s no indication, so far, that Lilly Wachowski is involved. Also, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are supposedly reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, because why not.
Never mind that SPOILER ALERT LOL Trinity died in Reloaded and Neo merged with the Matrix; it’s all just, like, a simulation, man. Maybe someone left a loop open, I don’t know. Also, they probably realised that nobody was going to watch a new Matrix movie that didn’t involve Keanu – so hot right now.
Yes, The Matrix was impressive when it came out, for multiple reasons, but the sequels weren’t as good, becoming messy and convoluted towards the end. However, the Animatrix (the animated anthology created to fit between The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded) was rather excellent. I’m just not sure what story there is that still needs telling.
Maybe it’ll be okay, guys, maybe Jupiter Ascending was Lilly’s fault.
