Call of Duty Modern Warfare Group

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s PC system reqs include 175 GB (!) HDD space

Are you a fan of Call of Duty? Are you super excited about that reboot of the first Modern Warfare? Well, if you’re a PC gamer, start making space on your drive (and your monthly data budget).

Outside of hard drive space, the game doesn’t seem particularly demanding if you’re going by minimum specs – you’ll need an i3, 8GB RAM, and a GTX670, most of which is older hardware. So at least the games are still a bit more accessible, but for the internet-disabled that 175 GB storage requirement is a bitch.

Minimum specs:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit (SP1) or Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4340 or AMD FX-6300
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon HD 7950 – DirectX 12.0 compatible system
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Storage: 175 GB available hard drive space
  • Internet: Broadband

Recommended specs:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit latest update
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X Processor
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon R9 390 / AMD Radeon RX 580 – DirectX 12.0 compatible system
  • Memory: 12 GB RAM
  • Storage: 175 GB available hard drive space
  • Internet: Broadband

To put it into perspective, Final Fantasy XV took 148GB and Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to take 150GB. So this is a huge download commitment, especially for South African gamers who may not have the greatest internet connections in the world.
