According to a recent earnings call, EA hasn’t forgotten about Titanfall 3 and it could still happen in the future, maybe, one day… potentially.
Given the success of Apex Legends, with its player base of 70 million, you can probably understand why EA wants to focus on the Titanfall spin-off, right now, instead of developing Titanfall 3 (cough microtransactions cough). They’re so invested in Apex Legends, that EA has decided it will be their annual shooter franchise for the next 10 years. We’re not sure what that involves, exactly, but it potentially means Apex will be getting meaningful content updates, every year, for a good while. It’s got EA COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen all excited, so you should be, too.
We view [Apex Legends] as an annual shooter franchise effectively and we’re trying to build that as a 10-year business … We’re very excited about the roadmap that the Respawn team has put in place.
If this leaves all you Titanfall 3 hopefuls distressed, Jorgensen also mentioned that they haven’t forgotten about Titanfall. EA thinks “it’s still a great brand” and they should totally meet up for coffee some time soon, it’s been too long, okay, chat soon, byeeee.
