Get ready for loadshedding with EskomSePush

It’s a new week, and a new series of scheduled power failures expected until Wednesday, or Thursday, or maybe next week, courtesy of South Africa’s Voted Worst Since 2005 utility service.

As such, this is a convenient opportunity to remind you about EskomSePush, the free loadshedding app developed by Herman Maritz and Dan Wells. The app uses location info to provide local loadshedding times according to the otherwise incomprehensible mess determined by municipal bureaucracy, and sends push notifications to your phone when power failures are expected, or if the current (lol) status changes.

EskomSePush is available for iOS and Android, and you can find download links on the app’s website.
