Something spooky is rising in small town USA and it’s up to that kid from Stranger Things to start up the family ghostbusting business again.
It’s been 30 years since the Ghostbusters cleansed New York City of its paranormal problems and I identify deeply with Paul Rudd’s surprise at having to explain what a ghost trap is to a bunch of kids. I bet a quarter of the movie is spent explaining the 80s.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a sequel to Ghostbusters II (1986) and ignores the 2016 reboot (which wasn’t that bad, calm down). Seems like, I have to assume, Egon left behind all manner of Ghostbusters paraphernalia for his grandchildren to find. Which is suspiciously convenient, but, apparently, “everything happens for a reason”. Expect a bunch of cameos from the original movies.
This is yet another way climate change is going to get us – by unleashing all the ghosts stored at the Earth’s core.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set for release around June/July 2020.
