The Long Dark Errant Pilgrim Update

Errant Pilgrim update adds a new region, new gear, and new enemies to The Long Dark’s Survival mode

Hinterland has released its Errant Pilgrim update for The Long Dark, which, amongst other things, adds timber wolves to Survival mode.

Timber wolves usually hunt in packs of three, making them especially obnoxious to deal with. You can break the pack’s morale by shooting at them or using special flares, but they’ll more than likely be back to menace you if you can’t find a more permanent solution. Fortunately, the timber wolves are confined to a new region; Bleak Inlet. Bleak Inlet is accessible via the Raven Falls ravine, or the Forlorn Muskeg, and features an abandoned cannery and an ammo workbench.

Yes, you can craft rifle and revolver ammo now; if you manage to scavenge all the required raw materials. There’s also a Milling Machine that lets you repair ruined firearms using your new Gunsmithing skill, but only under the spooky power of the Aurora.

This update also adds new feats, a new challenge, and a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. Check out the patch notes, or the handy video below, for more details.

I’ll let you know if I make the trek from the Coastal Highway. That’s the first rule of survival, right? Move from your very comfortable, rabbit-infested, home towards certain doom for the sake of excitement? I’m sure it’ll be fine…

The Long Dark is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
