The Batman Colin Farrell Penguin

Colin Farrell confirmed as The Penguin in upcoming Batman movie

Yes, The Penguin, that be-monocled, Gentleman of Crime so moistly portrayed by Danny DeVito in 1992’s Batman Returns and by Robin Lord Taylor in the Gotham series.

Matt Reeves, director of The Batman, recently confirmed Colin Farrell’s role, on Twitter, to great amusement.

You may know Farrell from In Bruges, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, as the man who should have been Gellert Grindelwald, or maybe even from 2003’s Daredevil (shame). Wherever you’ve seen him, he’s probably been Irish and not unattractive. So, I’m genuinely intrigued to see what they do to him to make him fit The Penguin.

The rest of the cast so far includes Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, and Paul Dano as The Riddler. This latest addition to the Batman filmography will, reportedly, have more of a noir focus, allowing Batman to use that big ol’ detective brain we keep hearing about but hardly ever see on the cinema screen.

The Batman is due for release on 25 June 2021.
