It’s not a new year if we’re not getting an update on the Uncharted movie, which is totally going to get made.
Having started development back in 2008, the Uncharted movie’s release date (previously December 2020) has been pushed back to June/July 2021. This is because Tom Holland, who is playing a younger take on Nathan Drake, had to go off and shoot the third Spider-Man film for Marvel. To be fair, that was probably a far better use of his time. Although, if the delays continue this way, Holland will just end up playing regular-age Drake and they’ll have to abandon this whole prequel-style plot line.
The Uncharted movie is being developed by Sony and had Travis Knight (Bumblebee) as the latest in a long list of directors. However, Knight has recently departed the production and will, potentially, be replaced by Ruben Fleischer (Venom).
The last Uncharted game was Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, from 2017, but the last one to involve Drake was Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (2016) and Naughty Dog has no plans to bring him back for future games.
Just saying, maybe if they’d let Nathan Fillion in, we would’ve been making fun of this movie, like, five years ago already.
