Half-Life: Alyx

Half-Life: Alyx gets an actual release date and the Valve Index is still out of stock

We now know when you’ll be able to get your VR paws on Half-Life: Alyx, but, if you were hoping to splurge on the Valve Index, you may be out of luck.

Valve has announced that Half-Life: Alyx will be abusing our entertainment systems from 23 March 2020.

The VR-only game is compatible with a number of headsets, but is optimised for play with the upcoming Valve Index, and, despite the hefty price tag, those sold out pretty quickly. We know of at least one South African who managed to nab one (you champion, you) off Amazon, but, if you were aiming to blow your savings on this bit of tech before Alyx arrives, you may be disappointed. It seems like it’s still out of stock in, pretty much, every country that was stocking it. South Africa was never one of those countries, in case you were wondering. If it helps, Australia wasn’t cool enough to get it, either (#southernhemisphereproblems).

Valve “will have more information on upcoming Valve Index availability soon”. If you’re desperate, you can, apparently, get second-hand ones at a 150% markup off Amazon, so there’s that.
