Seems the upcoming Fortnite season is all about gold, and spy stuff, and cats?
The official Fortnite Twitter account started posting a series of increasingly revealing images yesterday, along the theme of a transmission being intercepted and decrypted. The final one, so far, features a golden head covered by a skull mask, surrounded by the word “henchmen” in various languages, including Afrikaans (fun), with glimpses of a new map or area, and a confirmation of the release date for Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2: 20 February 2020.
It has a real Bond villain or cult leader vibe. Also, random stuff in the Fortnite world is turning to gold, like couches and TVs, and there are actual ads appearing in actual cities around the world, featuring a golden hand print and a phone number. According to Kotaku, calling the number reaches a recorded message about an “Agency recruitment drive” and oil rigs, and also features cat noises. Every decent villain needs a creepy cat, after all.
So, gold is probably going to be a new resource in Fortnite and I’m going to go ahead and assume there will be a spy-themed event to tie-in with the upcoming Bond film, No Time to Die, which releases on 31 March.
