Basically, there are Seasonal Artifacts in Destiny 2 that let players increase their Power level, indefinitely, beyond the normal level cap, before getting reset back to normal at the end of each season. This means they can potentially deal, and withstand, way more damage than the average player by grinding their way to much higher levels. Remember, these players aren’t necessarily more skilled, they just have the time to grind PvE content.
Understandably, Destiny 2 fans were upset that these extra Power levels would be enabled for the 3v3 PvP event, Trials of Osiris, as they provide an absurd advantage that isn’t related to the player’s skill.
Fortunately, Bungie heard the wails of the people and have decided it would be better if the Artifact was disabled for Power-enabled PvP, until they can implement a new Power Cap feature.
We will be disabling the Artifact for Power-enabled PVP (Iron Banner & Trials) until we can implement a Power Cap feature.
This cap will allow us to weave Artifact and Power Pursuit together while preventing unbound Power growth in PVP.
