Fallout 76 ups the realism as players begin hoarding toilet paper

The satire is strong with Fallout 76 fans.

Often, people play games as a form of escapism from the horrors of their everyday existence, especially during a global pandemic, but Fallout 76 players are different so they’ve decided to bring a little bit of the real world into their games by making toilet paper a valuable, rare, commodity in post-apocalyptic Appalachia.

Players have taken to hoarding all the toilet paper they can find, parodying the mass panic-purchasing of toilet paper that has been happening since COVID-19 became a thing to panic about. Some have taken to putting their white gold on display, for passers-by to marvel at, while others have placed it in their vending machines for others to purchase at obscenely high markups.

In case you were wondering, toilet paper is a junk item in Fallout 76 that yields one cloth for use in crafting things that require cloth, much like a whole bunch of other junk items. Nobody actually needs it, so the hoarding is really just for the lulz and for upsetting the game economy.

Hey, at least they’re keeping themselves occupied.

Also, please don’t actually hoard toilet paper in the real world; you’re better than that.
