Oom Cyril has announced that, from next Friday, the country’s lockdown protocols will be moderated, introducing a new multi-level model with different restrictions according to the prevailing risk.
This model spans five levels, reducing restrictions from MAXIMUM NO to KIND OF NORMAL BUT YOU SHOULD PROBABLY TAKE SOME PRECAUTIONS. For now, we’re at level five. On 1 May, we’re dropping to level four and cigarette sales. Takeout and booze are at level three, so don’t get too hyped.
Using this model, levels can be reduced or increased as necessary, on a national and provincial basis.
Other level four restrictions include:
Closed international borders
No travel between provinces except for essential services or “exceptional circumstances” like funerals
Some outside exercise is permitted – but with social distancing and strict public hygiene rules to be confirmed
The sale of cigarette and some other basic items that were previously banned are now unbanned
People who can work from home should keep working from home
More info about the level restrictions is expected soon.
