Having become frustrated, perhaps, with its interns wasting time deleting DIABLO 2 REMASTER PLZ emails instead of making coffee or whatever, Activision has apparently decided to give us what we want.
That’s according to French website Actugaming, citing “sources close to the studio” – which, in most cases, would be a questionable claim, but editor Julien Blary preempted the BlizzCon 2019 announcements of Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, so this guy knows what’s up at least some of the time. And this time, what’s up is Diablo 2 Resurrected, a Diablo 2 remaster in development at Activision subsidiary Vicarious Visions and expected to launch this holiday season. Vicarious Visions is the same studio that worked on the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remaster, remember, so that’s not an implausible claim either.
Until Blizzard confirms it, though, let’s file it under “maybe, probably, unless it isn’t”. Like everything else in 2020.
