A lot of film and television production schedules have been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it looks like some movies and series, being produced in the UK, could be starting up again soon; including Warner Bros.’ The Batman and Netflix’s The Witcher.
The British Film Commission and the British Film Institute have drawn up guidelines for how to safely resume production on film and TV sets around the UK. These include social distancing rules, regular temperature tests, and safety training. The opening up of the industry may be a little premature, given that the UK has the second-highest death toll from the virus worldwide, but it will bring some respite to the thousands of crew members that have been completely out of work since the industry shut down in March.
Besides The Batman and the second season of The Witcher, other projects that may soon be up and running again include the third Fantastic Beasts film, Disney’s live-action version of The Little Mermaid, and the sixth season of Peaky Blinders. However, they’ll have to get started soon if they’re going to take advantage of the fleeting Summer weather.
You probably won’t be seeing many crowd scenes or epic battles in any upcoming films and series, though.
