Another day closer to the official launch for the Nintendo Switch 2, and here at NAG, we can’t help but scroll through the list of extra accessories and devices we want to pick alongside the shiny new console.
While there may not be many on launch day, there are still quite a few must-haves that we’ve narrowed down to our top three:
Piranha Plant Camera for Nintendo Switch 2
Price: R999

With the Switch 2, Nintendo has put a lot of effort into making the community aspect of gaming come to the forefront. Live group chats, screen sharing and even video calls seem to be a big part of the console. Of course, that will require a camera. We think the HORI Piranha Plant Camera is just perfect. Sure, it’s not an “official” Nintendo product, but it looks so much cooler and is R500 cheaper. Just don’t get your fingers caught in the teeth.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller
Price: R2,299

I hear you. The Switch 2 comes with its built-in Joy-Con controllers. Yet, there’s nothing more comfortable for solo play than the Switch Pro Controller. It was one of our top accessories for the Switch 1, and we can guarantee that it will be one of the best accessories for a Switch 2, too. Although a little pricey, it’s still a day one purchase if we’re going all in on the Switch.

Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector
Price: R799

Portable consoles will follow us around, be tossed into our backpacks and played on the go. That means we will need a protective case to keep everything safe and secure while on the go. We like the official Nintendo case because of its sleek design and pop of colour on the zippers. It has enough space to carry six game cartridges with the console, and comes with an extra protective film to help keep your screen scratch-free.

Some of you may be thinking, what about extra storage? We would usually pick up an additional SD card right off the bat, but we’ve learnt from the previous console that if we wait a little longer, we can grab the non-Nintendo-branded versions of the same MicroSD Express cards for slightly cheaper.
What cool accessories have you hunted down and added to your baskets for launch day? Let us know in the comments!
