Gamescom 2022 – All The Game Announcements And Trailers From Opening Night

Tuesday night was the opening of Gamescom 2022, one of the most exciting events in recent memory. From multiple new announcements to actual gameplay footage of long-awaited titles, over the 2-hour runtime, gamers were spoiled for choice.

There was something for everyone, with over thirty different game reveals over almost every imaginable genre. If you missed out on the showcase last night because of valuing sleep on a school/work night, then we’ve got you covered.

We here at NAG have compiled all the games spoken about, announced, revealed, and compiled them into one handy dandy list, complete with trailers. Keep reading to see all of the games announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022.

Age of Empires 4 – Coming October 25

The beloved game Age of Empires 4 is adding two new civilizations to its roster with its upcoming anniversary update. The Malians focus on strategy and cunning, and the Ottomans are all about brute force.

Atlas Fallen – Coming 2023

Atlas Fallen is a new action, fantasy role-playing game. Described by the developers as having a “semi-open world full of ancient mysteries and threats,” the game is coming to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X in 2023.

Blacktail – Coming Soon

During Gamescom opening night, we got another look at the upcoming first-person fantasy archery game, Blacktail. The trailer showcases the game’s setting and story and even features some monsters players will face.

Crossfire X Babylon – Available now

The major content update for the online FPS Crossfire X went live during the event. The update adds new maps, weapons, a host of matchmaking improvements, better weapon handling, and an updated UI.

Dead Island 2 – Coming 3 February 2023

You know an event is off to a strong start when you don’t just get a new trailer for Dead Island 2 but a release date as well. Launching soon, the trailer introduced viewers to the new protagonist Jacob, one of six playable characters that will be available at launch.

Destiny 2 Lightfall – Coming 28 February

One of the most jam-packed trailers from the event ended up being The Destiny 2 Lightfall reveal trailer. Viewers get to see the new Darkness subclass called Strand and glimpse some other quality of life improvements.

Dorfromantik – Coming 29 September

If you’re looking for the next cosy game to get addicted to, Dorfromantik is it. The adorable miniature town builder Dorfromantik is heading to Nintendo Switch. The aim is to stitch together different tiles to make the most sprawling settlement possible.

Dune Awakening – Coming soon

The Dune franchise is again expanding, with a survival game set in the expansive universe.

Dying Light 2: Bloody Ties DLC – Coming 13 October

The much-anticipated first story DLC for Dying Light 2 is almost here. The content will be focused on arena battles and fighting against other survivors in a new area called the Carnage Hall.

Everywhere – Coming 2023

The trailer for Everwhere showed off some of the game’s various environments for players to create and explore.

Friends vs Friends – Coming soon

If you never thought you needed a deckbuilding game mixed with a first-person shooter. In that case, watching this adorable trailer will convince you that you do.

Genshin Impact 3.0 – Available now

Just hours before its official release, Gamescom viewers were treated to a new and final trailer for the game’s big update.

Goat Simulator 3 – Coming soon

The first official look at Goat Simulator 3 is as ridiculously great as you could imagine. From goats charging around with jetpacks to playing a bit of soccer, the game truly has it all.

Gotham Knights – Coming 21 October

Gotham Knights is already making a splash by being one of the first games to change their release date to be earlier instead of delayed. The new trailer that was revealed during the event focuses on the villains that players will battle throughout the game.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker – Coming 20 September

Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a game that tells the story of a lone corporate worker caught underneath the crushing weight of capitalism.

High on Life – Coming Soon

High on Life is a first-person action game unveiled at the Xbox showcase earlier this year. The action and platforming look solid in the gameplay footage shown. If you’re a fan of Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland, you’ll love this one as his style and tone can be felt through the trailer.

Hogwarts Legacy – Coming February 2023

This new trailer for the upcoming game showcased the darker side of Hogwarts. Viewers got their first look at the Unforgiveable Curses and some of that dark magic the game will include.

Homeworld 3 – Coming 2023

The trailer for the delayed game showcased some new gameplay.

Honkai Star Rail – Coming soon

Honkai: Star Rail is a new game from the developers of Genshin Impact. The game’s focus seems to be all about the story.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game – Coming soon

One of our favourite reveals from Gamescom 2023 was Killer Klowns from Outer Space. If you want to know more about this upcoming comedy horror title, then be sure to read our coverage here.

Lies of P – Coming 2023

The Lies of P gameplay trailer showed off a style that resembles a mix between JRPG-style games and FromSoftware-like combat. The game will see you play as a puppet trying to find Geppetto in a city called Krat. It will also be available on Game Pass from day one.

Moonbreaker – Coming 29 September

Moonbreaker is a sci-fi game featuring digital miniatures, set in a universe created by the best-selling author Brandon Sanderson.

Moving Out 2 – Coming 2023

Couch co-op indie game Moving Out is getting a sequel you can play next year. The sequel to the beloved title introduces online co-op alongside cross-played enabled gameplay.

New Tales from the Borderlands – Coming 21 October

Last night Gearbox Software announced there are only two months left until you can play New Tales from the Borderlands. In the game, you will shape the stories of altruistic scientist Anu, her brother Octavio, and the frogurt-loving Fran through your decisions.

Park Beyond – Coming soon

Think of games like Roller Coaster Tycoon and Planet Coaster, and that’s what you’re getting with Park Beyond.

Phantom Hellcat – Coming soon

Phantom Hellcat is a theatrical platformer-slasher that mixes 2D jumping puzzles with combat.

Return to Monkey Island – Coming 19 September

It feels like yesterday when Return to Monkey Island was first announced, and now it’s only days away from releasing. With a launch date of September 19th, fans can now pre-order the new Monkey Island game.

Scars Above – Coming soon

Scars Above let viewers in on a big chunk of story and gameplay during Gamescom 2022.

Stranded: Alien Dawn – Coming to Early Access in October

Stranded: Alien Dawn is a survival base-building tactical game where you and the gang help a group of stranded astronauts survive on an alien planet. You’ll deal with extreme weather, disease, starvation, and the looming threats of aliens.

Sonic Frontiers – Coming 8 November

We finally have a release date for the much-anticipated Sonic Frontiers game. Releasing November 8, 2022, across all systems, this entry into the Sonic franchise will see brand new locations and characters added.

The Callisto Protocol – Coming soon

From the minds behind the Dead Space games, The Callisto Protocol continues to blow us away each time we see it. This time, we got to see our first gameplay for the game, which showed the protagonist sneaking around an area and stabbing horrific monsters in the back and hurling enemies into a blending machine.

The Expanse: Telltale Series – Coming soon

We got treated to new gameplay for the Expanse Telltale game.

The Finals – Coming soon

While we only got the briefest of teasers for this one with the promise of a full reveal next month, players can now sign-up to be part of the playtest while they wait for more info.

The Lords of the Fallen – Coming soon

The Lords of the Fallen is getting a reboot for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The updated visuals and gameplay have been revealed with a flashy three-minute trailer.

The Outlast Trials – Coming soon

The Outlast franchise has returned with a brand new entry into the franchise, The Outlast Trials. This time the horror franchise is putting a multiplayer twist on its usual formula. While no release date has been set, a closed beta is happening between October 28 and November 1.

Tortuga: A Pirate’s Tale – Coming soon

The developer behind the Port Royale strategy games series is working on a new pirate-themed adventure called Tortuga: A Pirate’s Tale.

Under the Waves – Coming 2023

Quantic Dream is publishing a new single-player narrative-driven game called Under the Waves. You’ll play as a professional diver called Stan, who starts to experience strange events at the ocean’s depths.

Warhammer 40k Darktide – Coming soon

A new trailer for the co-op action of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide offers a broad overview of the game.

Where Winds Meet – Coming soon

Where Winds Meet is a brand new action-RPG. The game has an open world, is set in ancient China, and is developed by Chinese studio Everstone Games.

Wyrdsong – Coming soon

We don’t know much about Wyrdsong, but we do know that it’s an occult historical fantasy RPG. We also know that the game is set in a fictionalised version of Portugal in the middle ages that comes from the developers Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas.
