Steam’s Mobile receives new update!

The Steam Mobile app has been completely revamped for both Android and iOS with a new framework, design, and features. Valve has been working on this new app since at least August this year when it had requested beta testers for the app.

You can still browse the store, get Steam Guard codes, and confirm trades, but there are new features such as QR code scanning for PC sign-in, smarter notifications, customisable tabs, and a new Library view with remote downloads.

The new sign-in method allows you to access your Steam account without entering your username or password. It verifies your identity by using the two-factor authentication credentials stored on your phone.

Using Steam’s QR sign-in method will also display a confirmation page with details such as a map with the approximate location of the device you’re signing into. This ensures that you are approving your own login attempt.

The new Steam Mobile app now shows all your games in your library with the ability to remotely download games to your PC, or even uninstall it.

The full list of features includes:
• Two-factor authentication to ensure you’re the only one with access to your account
• QR code sign-in – Scan a QR code to sign into Steam instead of entering a password
• Sign-in confirmation – Confirm your regular Steam sign-ins with a simple “approve” or “deny”
• Authorised Devices – Manage access to the devices your account has signed in
• Easy access to the Store, Community, News, etc from wherever you are
• Your Library with access to your game content, discussions, guides, support, and more
• Remote download of games and updates on your PC, managed from your phone
• Customisable Steam notifications: wish list, sales, comments, trades, discussions, friend requests, and more
• Trade and Market confirmations – to ensure items don’t leave your account without your approval
• An improved Store browsing experience for mobile screens
• Support for using multiple Steam accounts in the app
• Customisable tabs

Also included is the Steam Chat app that allows you to stay in touch with friends while you are away from your computer. Valve has also announced plans to improve the app with various bug fixes. The Android update has already been rolled out, with the iOS update expected to follow soon.

Valve also plans to bring the Authorised Devices list to the Steam Client and browser. QR sign-in to the Steam Deck and adding new notification types are also in the works.

You can get Steam Mobile on Android and iOS.
