Apex Legends Goes a Little Ballistic

I play Apex every day. I’m not very good at it, but I like it. I like the Legends. They offer up a little something something to each match that can alter a fight in a different way than just having a good weapon can. I also like that Apex adds new Legends regularly. Yes, everyone moans about how unbalanced they are on first releases, but that’s how these things go.

With season 17 around the corner, they’re giving us another exciting Legend to wreak havoc with on the battlefield!

August “Ballistic” Brinkman.

From the Stories from the Outlands: Encore video, we can gather a few minor details about Ballistic. One, he’s an ex-Thunderdome player, the Apex Games before they became the Apex Games, just more brutal and deadly. Two, he’s an alcoholic father who no longer communicates with his wife or son. Three, even though he is estranged from his family, he’s still willing to shoot his way through things to put himself in his sons place to protect him. Or is it really for protection? The video does tell us that Ballistic was a selfish player in the Thunderdome and he did it all for the glory. Perhaps he just can’t stand to be in his son’s shadow.

In any case, besides the few things we see in the video, Apex has not released anything official on his abilities. So we’ll just have to trust this leak.

Of course this is all speculation, but it does seem to tie up pretty well with the video Apex released considering the leak was around four months ago.

Passive: Weapon Sling – Allows players to store a third weapon. Access via inventory or the d-pad. The sling weapon cannot take attachments.

Tactical: Smart Bullet – Shoots a projectile that debuffs the enemy weapon. Enemies’ guns will start to heat up as they shoot. Overheating will cause a reaction that deals damage. Hold the tactical button to lock-on to a target.

Ultimate: Weapon Enhancer – When activated, Ballistic and any nearby teammates get a buff applied, increasing reload time, unarmed move speed, and infinite ammo. Any weapon stored in Ballistic’s Weapon Sling will be instantly equipped and upgraded to a gold-tier for the duration of the buff.

The leak did manage to get the image of the Legend right, so there’s a chance that these abilities will be pretty close to what actually gets released, but we’ll have to wait for the official announcement from Apex themselves to know for sure.

In the meantime, I have 14 days to finish my Battlepass, so, uh, bye.
