Dave The Diver Set To Be The Next Big Indie Title Thanks To Its Extra Cutscenes

If Dave the Diver isn’t already on your radar, it should be – at least according to the hoards of delighted players worldwide. Fans of this new indie game have not only put the game on the Steam top sellers chart but have taken to the Stream review section and Twitter to express their love, not only for the game but also for its extravagantly extra cutscenes.

At its core, Dave the Diver is an underwater exploration RPG and sushi restaurant management sim where players take on the role of Dave, a retired deep-sea diver recruited to help catch exotic fish from the ‘Blue Hole’, a mysterious ecosystem harbouring aquatic species from all over the world.

Players must explore the ocean to catch and serve fish to Dave’s customers at his sushi restaurant. It’s an intriguing mix of gameplay and management. Still, the thing that has everyone falling for the game is the cutscenes.

Cutscenes will happen every time players make a new meal, upgrade one or craft new weapons to fish with. An example of a cutscene that has fans in stitches is when you see Dave sharpening his knife to cut sushi before a single petal falls into the scene.

The camera follows the petal before stopping on a fish tank behind Dave. It shows the fish inside, shivering in fear at the fish massacre it’s forced to witness as it counts down the days until it becomes its own fate.

From what we’ve seen about Dave the Diver so far, the game is equal parts brutal, beautiful and humous – the perfect mix to ensure it will be a fan favourite.
