AI Can Steal Your Data By Listening To Keystrokes With 95% Accuracy

With the rise in the popularity of AI, it was only a matter of time before man decided to use this fantastic leap in technology for evil and no, this time, we aren’t talking about artists having their work stolen. No, we’re talking about an AI that can listen to keystrokes and predict what you’re typing with 95% accuracy. Yup.

Over the weekend, a report came out showing that a team from several British universities has managed to train AI to predict key inputs via a microphone with 95% accuracy. This essentially means that anything typed on a keyboard, from passwords to private messages and more, can easily be predicted and leaked to a third party.

According to the report, the experiment was conducted using a MacBook Pro. At the same time, the audio was recorded using an iPhone during a Zoom Call, highlighting the vulnerability of data many believe to be private.

A MacBook was used to show that the AI was accurate, even with very quiet keyboards. The deep learning model can train itself by recording the minute differences between keystrokes.

This study points out how the rapid advancements in AI and deep learning can be used to exploit just as easily as they can be used for good.

What do you think about the report? Let us know in the comments… by typing very, very quietly and with your iPhone in another room…
