The Developers Of Palworld Are Receiving Death Threats And People Need To Stop

This is why we can’t have nice things. The developers behind the massively successful Palworld game have started to receive death threats. Honestly, I wish I found this news more shocking than I do.

The reason for said death threats is seemingly over the similarities between the game’s creature designs and Pokemon, which also indicates that some people should not be allowed on the internet.

Palworld does look very similar to Pokemon, there is no denying that, But so do many other games. Palworld combined that aesthetic with a Minecraft-style survival mechanic that has clearly been successful as the game has already sold over 5 million copies despite being early access, only released this past Friday and being readily available to play through Xbox Game Pass.

The death threats from upset Pokemon fans have gotten so bad that Pocket Pair CEO Takuro Mizobe released a statement addressing the abuse targeted at Palworld’s art team.

In the statement, Takuro Mizobe stated that multiple people supervised all the designs and that people needed to stop the harassment. And honestly, he has more than a point.

It’s unfortunate that Palworld’s developers have been targeted by an angry mob when they should be celebrating their game’s success. The fans accusing the game of ripping off Pokemon designs for its creatures need to calm down and breathe.

Yes, there are some apparent similarities between Pals and Pokemon. Still, at the end of the day, if there is plagiarism, it won’t be long until Nintendo gets involved via The Pokemon Company and its lawyers.

Death threats don’t accomplish anything other than making the gaming space a horrible and toxic environment.

Be better, gamers, be better.
